Se dio a conocer la lista de artistas para la edición anual de los premios de MTV donde se premia a los mejores videos a lo largo del año. Ariana Grande y Taylor Swift son las que más nominaciones tienen entre los que se encuentran categorías como Video del Año, Canción del Año y Artista del Año.
En cuanto a nombres “nuevos” podemos encontrar a Billie Eilish (en las categorías de artistas revelación y también Artista del Año gracias a videos como “Bad Guy”, “when the party’s over” y “hostage”), Lil Nas X (el joven rapero que llegó al #1 en los charts -y sigue en su 16º semana- con su tema “Old Town Road” cuyo remix con Billy Ray Cyrus le dio 8 nominaciones) y Rosalía (la española que ya es sensación en todo el mundo por su fusión de flamenco con ritmos urbanos y está nominada a Nueva Artista, Mejor Latino y Mejor Coreografía por su single “Con Altura” con J Balvin y El Guincho).
Además este año se suman dos nuevas categorías: Mejor K-Pop y Video Para Bien donde se premiarán a lo más destacado en la música pop coreana y aquellos videos que trasmitan un mensaje positivo y poderoso.
Los MTV Video Music Awards se llevarán a cabo el próximo 19 de agosto en el Prudential Center de Nueva Jersey (Estados Unidos). La votación para la mayoría de las categorías ya se puede realizar a través de la WEB de los premios con un máximo de 10 votos diarios por cada categoría.
